Take Out the Trash Campaign
Last year the Lord impressed the crime of human trafficking on the heart of this ministry and its volunteers. This is an injustice that must be stopped. The women associated with this ministry are dedicated to raising awareness and partnering with the organizations who do the work of helping those caught in trafficking escape, heal and begin a new life. A portion of the proceeds from Trash the Lies conferences are donated to organizations making a difference.
Help us take out the trash in the name in the Jesus!
The following statistics have been compiled by our Take out the Trash champion Lisa McPartland.
Current US Human Trafficking Statistics
- 300,000 sex trafficked American girls in the US. Prime target age 11-14
- 20,000 - 40,000 sex trafficked girls in S. America, Mexico and Europe
- Sex trafficking is a $32 Billion $ business
- Average # of men serviced/day by victim is 40. Stat is due to high-priced "charge" for enacting violent gang-rapes on victim.
- Estimates indicate that trafficking will surpass drugs as #1 crime in 2012. Recession has increasing sex-trafficking related crimes.
- 60-70% trafficked are females. 50% of those trafficked are minors.
- Three channels of income for females per sexual encounter:
Selling Sex
Videotaping sex for adult or kiddie porn
Still shots
- Only 5% of abductions stem from "Stranger Danger"
The process for victimization
- "Coyotes" find it easier to lure/get girls ages 11-14. Target misfit who doesn't fit in. Empty love tanks. Choose girls who are detached from parents. A daughter who comes & goes as she pleases. MO: they go to a party, tells her he loves her, they go upstairs and have sex or it results in violent rape. Asks to keep meeting her, showers her with gifts and affirmation. Next steps: buddy's having a party and can you do a "favor". Girls are always beaten. Drugs for physical dependency come into play. Trauma bonding a big factor (i.e. Stockholm Syndrome)
- Within 2 weeks to 2 months, the girl is trafficked, coerced & manipulated.
- Pimp-to-pimp sales are common in hotbeds for trafficking (Miami, NYC, Orange County, Toledo (truck stops), Phoenix, Vegas).
Recovery & Prosecution
- Difficult to deprogram and undo, yet possible.
- Traffickers, even locally, are very smart. One step ahead of everyone. Takes advantage of time it takes to build case files, videos, and evidence "disappearing". Takes 2-3 years to build a case.
- 25 psychological disorders identified with no known cause for victims.
- Inevitably, girls trafficked end up dead.
