Irene started painting in watercolour.  This remains a favoured medium for on the spot or sketchbook work, but she now works mainly in oils to make a bolder statement.  Influenced by Turner’s skies, she likes to give an impression of a journey either real or imagined, using a rich range of colours to communicate.  The subject may vary but her enthusiasm always shows through.

As a teacher she communicates the importance of observation and interpretation onto a 2D surface.
